The site for this facility was at the termination of the Hunter Valley Grammar School's central landscape axis. The brief was for a building that provided a centre for sporting excellence, space for full school assemblies, a substantial stage for drama, associated support spaces, a commercial teaching kitchen, a foyer for functions, a uniform shop, staff areas and classrooms. Completed in 2005, the building plays a part in many different components of the school's curriculum. It is also used by the local community for functions, large performances and sporting events. The principal space has extensive daylighting, there are active and passive ventilation systems that provide summer cooling and the building harvests water extensively, using 100,000L of storage, for use with toilet flushing and for all grounds use within the school.
