Getting Started
Architecture Insights was created by the NSW Architects Registration Board to help further the awareness and understanding of architecture. The content on the website has been created by the NSW ARB and a community of individuals and organisations who are passionate about architecture.
You too can join the community and start contributing today!
Registering and Login
To add events, sites and resources to Architecture Insights you must first register using the registration form. Once registered you can login immediately and start creating content.
Guidelines for entering events
With an unprecedented number of architectural exhibitions, talks, debates and events Architecture Insights is the one place that has full daily listings to keep you up-to-date with the architectural circuit. Anyone can list an event, all we ask is that the event listing is genuine, accurate, and related in some way to architecture. Please be aware that the editors reserve the right to edit or decline submissions without notice.
How do I enter an event?
Adding an event is easy, just follow these steps.
- Login to the contributors admin
- Create <insert link> and save your new event
- Your event will be queued for moderation and published live once it is approved.
- Your will receive an email confirming your event has been published. Events will usually be approved and live within 1-2 days of receipt.
Organisations contributing many events may wish to be an “approved” event contributor. This means you can submit your information without waiting for it to be moderated. For details contact info@architects.nsw.gov.au
Guidelines for entering sites
How to I enter my site profile?
Adding a site is easy, just follow these steps.
Login to the contributors admin
- Create and save your site profile
- Your site will be queued for review by a panel and then published live once it is approved.
- Your will receive an email notification informing you your site has been published
We would like the project you submit to tell a story and include comments from clients and users where appropriate.
Here are some points you may want to include in your description include:
- Underpinning values/philosophy of the project
- How does the project respond to its context, contribute to the public domain for example street or neighbourhood?
- What problems did you have to solve?
- What was the contribution of others, including engineers, landscape architects, artists and other specialists to the outcome
- Comments on the value of design in relation to the cost of the project
- Sustainability aspects of the project
- Benefits of the project for the client, users and the community
What is a Flickr tag?
Architecture Insights supports the publishing of Flickr photos to your event and site profiles using a flickr tag. This also means members of the public passionate about your profile can also publish photos.
Flickr is a leading online photo sharing community with over 6 billion photos and 7 million users. Publishing your photos on Flickr makes them accessible to the thousands of people that visit Flickr everyday. When publishing your photo's you have the option to maintain copyright or license your photos under for re-use under Creative Commons.
Add photos to your events and sites
If you don’t yet have one, you need to start by setting up a Yahoo Flickr account. Go to www.flickr.com/signup and follow the step by step account setup
- login to you flickr account
- click the upload photos & video link
- follow Flickr’s steps to upload your photos.
- IMPORTANT - tag your recently uploaded photos with a unique tag for example builtforthebush or ARUPWaterCube
- The final step is to add the Flickr tag to your event of site.

Guidelines for entering resources
Architecture Insights combines current international and local blogs, websites, podcasts in practice and related fields. The Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarships + Board research from the past decade can also be read and downloaded.
Resources may be focussed towards a professional audience; the general public; architecture students; teachers; school students.
Adding a resource is easy, just follow these steps.
Login to the contributors admin
- Login to the contributors admin
- Next to Resources, click Add
- Complete all fields
- Your resource will be queued for moderation and published live once it is approved
- You wil receive an email confirming your resource has been published. Resources will usually be approved and live within 1-2 days of receipt.
Organisations or people contributing reources may wish to be an "approved" resource contributor. This means you can submit your information without waiting for it to be moderated. For details contact info@architects.nsw.gov.au
