Australian Designers at Work
ByThe Australian Designers at Work website contains case studies of the work of designers across various fields of design. The case studies contain information tailored to the requirements of the NSW Stage 4 Technology (Mandatory) syllabus.
Case studies relevant to the built environment are:
For each designer, information is provided under the following headings: Introduction, About the Designer, Design Process, Evaluating Success, Gallery of Work, Links and References. Each case study contains a short video of the designer explaining their work.
Additionally student activities are suggested to further develop learning associated with each case study. Shown below are extension activities that may be used to follow up the case study of Peter Adcock:
Design process
- Draw a flowchart to describe the design process used by the team at Australian Wetlands to develop a wetland.
- What are the possible short and long-term consequences of a wetland design?
- Identify some of the criteria that might have been used to evaluate the success of the Blue Hills wetland.
Design specialisation
- Explain why the wetlands are a built environment.
- Describe the factors affecting the design of a wetland, for example, scale, environmental, safety and cost factors.
Role of designers
