Jack Beale Lecture
The 2013 Jack Beale Lecture on the Global Environment will be presented by Dr David Suzuki.
Dr David Suzuki is a scientist, broadcaster, author, and co-founder of the David Suzuki Foundation. He is Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia. He holds 28 honorary degrees from universities around the world and has been recognized by the UN for his environmental leadership. David is the recipient of the 2012 Inamori Ethics Prize and the 2009 Right Livelihood Award. He was elected to the Royal Society of Canada and is a Companion of the Order of Canada.
David is host of the multi-award winning long-running CBC science and natural history television series The Nature of Things, and former host of CBC Radio's Quirks and Quarks, and the acclaimed series’ It's a Matter of Survival and From Naked Ape to Superspecies. In 1990 David co-founded the influential Canadian non-profit organization David Suzuki Foundation to work with ‘government, business, and individuals to conserve the environment by providing science-based education, advocacy and policy work for social change’. His written work includes more than 54 books, 19 of them for children. Dr. Suzuki lives with his wife, Dr. Tara Cullis, in Vancouver, BC.
Doors open at 5.30pm and the official proceedings will commence promptly at 6pm. A registration desk will be located in the foyer of the Sir John Clancy Auditorium, University of New South Wales (map C24).
We advise that the Jack Beale Lecture is fully booked and a waitlist in now open. Dr Suzuki's Lecture will be beamed via a live feed to an adjoining theatre and you are welcome to register for a seat in the theatre.
