Flinders Street Station design proposal by John Wardle Architects + Grimshaw

In November 2011, the Victorian Coalition Government launched a $1 million international design competition to rejuvenate and restore Melbourne’s iconic Flinders Street Station.

The Flinders Street Station Design Competition seeks the best ideas from around the world to re-energise the station and its surrounds, while maintaining its beloved heritage features.

The People’s Choice Award provides the public with an opportunity to give feedback on the six shortlisted designs.

On Thursday 8 August, the Jury winner and the People’s Choice Award will be announced.

Community engagement is an important part of the competition. We want to provide you with information on the thinking behind the design concepts and the vision for this precinct. Your feedback will help inform any future Government work on redeveloping the station.

We want you to think about all aspects of the designs - it is more than just a beauty contest!
