SAW Bike Tour #2 - Three-Suburbs Central

Feb. 28, 2015

9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Town Bike Pitstop, 156 Abercrombie St Redfern 2016

We are architects and we conduct intimate city tours on bike and on foot that are open to the general public.

Right now, everything new in Sydney is concentrated in a strip of land between Central Station and Barangaroo on Sydney’s western edge where the sharpest oppositions are playing out between memory and newness; economy and politics; inspiration and corruption opening up conversations big and small.

The big boys in the world of architecture including Gehry, Koolhaas, Nouvel, Rogers and Foster are having fun and a number of local architects and landscape architects are also contributing buildings of the highest standard.
On this lazy back-street meander you will discover projects large and small including some of Sydney’s greenest commercial buildings, re-imagined industrial sites of breathtaking scale, urban landscapes, university buildings, student housing and small residential projects.
This tour is an exploration of these gritty, rapidly changing and completely mixed up inner-city suburbs, weaving a very different narrative through Sydney.

Coffee break and oranges at half-time.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour departure if you require a bike.

Adult: $90 Children & full-time students: $80 Bike & Helmet Hire (if req): $25
