Making the City from inside out
The most pleasant surprise for me, is discovering that the collective appetite for a different experience of the city is alive and well. People want a city that is altogether less predictable, that allows space for personal expression by actively engaging individuals in the creative process, and is less bound by the usual rules of social behaviour.

In the coming weeks I will be looking at informal city experiences that have the power to transform the city from the bottom up. I will seek out these genuine attempts to make positive social + urban change, and examine in more detail the role that the informal, arginal and creative practice plays in making the city.

#3 Formations: New Practices in Australian Architecture
Creative Directors Anthony Burke and Gerard Reinmuth for the Australian contribution to the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2012, are seeking expressions of interest from potential contributors to the exhibition, 'Formations; New Practices in Australian Architecture'. They are looking for Australian Architects or architectural practices that are redefining the boundaries of practice either through the ways in which they have constituted their practice or the unusual domains in which they work.
