#3 Formations: New Practices in Australian Architecture
By , 1 November 20110 comments.
As the profession of architecture registers the pressure of new economic, social and cultural challenges, innovative Australian architects are finding new ways in which to practice architecture and new domains of work in which to apply architectural skills. A common theme motivating many new forms of practice is the goal of finding a greater agency, or effectiveness, for architects to become involved in improving the quality of our built environment.
The exhibition at the13th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2012 will showcase Australian architectural practices which are stretching the accepted ideas of what it means to be an architect, and the kind of work archiects do, by operating in novel or innovative practice formations.
The Creative Directors, Anthony Burke and Gerard Reinmuth intend 'Formations' to be a significant contribution to the current international discussion on the issue, through placing Australia's most innovative architects at the forefront of this conversation. Expressions of interest from potential contributors to the exhibition 'Formations; New practices in Australian Architecture' are invited. EOIs are due 12.00 AESDST Tuesday 8 November 2011.
